Uva Ursi, also known as bearberry, is a small evergreen shrub native to Europe, Asia, and North America, thriving particularly in colder regions. Traditionally, it has been valued in Native American medicine for its various medicinal properties.

 

The plant's dark green, leathery leaves contain active compounds like arbutin and hydroquinone, which are believed to have antimicrobial properties. Uva Ursi has primarily been used to address urinary tract infections (UTIs), with its compounds thought to alleviate inflammation and combat bacteria in the urinary tract.

 

Pregnant and breastfeeding individuals, as well as those with kidney or liver issues, should avoid Uva Ursi.
